- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification, Dental Therapy Degree. Current registration as a Dental Therapist with the HPCSA.
Experience
- Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession as a Dental Therapist in respect of South African qualified employees who performed Community Service, as required in South Africa. One-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the as a physiotherapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
- Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Dental Therapist in respect of South African qualified employees who performed Community Service, as required in South Africa. Minimum of 11 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the as a Dental Therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
- Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Dental Therapist in respect of South African qualified employees who performed Community Service, as required in South Africa. Minimum of 21 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Dental Therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Computer literacy Ms Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Knowledge of relevant legislations and related legal and ethical practices, PFMA and Public Service Act and regulations. Good written and communication skills. Ability to interact with patients, therapists and family/public. Ability to interact with the multidisciplinary team. Good time management and communication skills. Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word Office. Good writing and communication skills. Valid driver's license.
Duties
- The successful candidate will be working in Oral Health Programme dental surgeries in PHC clinics, mobile, prisons and in public health institutions in West Rand District Health Services.
- The person will provide oral health treatment, provide oral services, relief of pain and sepsis, simple restorations, fissure sealants, scaling and polishing, community outreach programmes and be involved in and provide an integrated service in a multi-disciplinary team. The person will rotate and as necessary provide relief in other clinics, prisons, mobile and institutions within the district. Ensure effective service delivery under direct supervision, using service manuals, service protocols & Standard Operating Procedures. Using service manuals, protocols and Standard Operating Procedures. Assist and participate in research projects and surveys.
- Ensure the implementation of the Gauteng Oral Health Strategy. Execute necessary administrative work. Excellent time management, organizational, communication and customer care skills with patients, staff and other stakeholders.
