- Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Longmeadow has an opportunity available for a DC Dispatch Assistant Manager to join the team. The main purpose of this role will be to achieve operational excellence within the Dis-Chem Distribution Centres incorporating functions in the following areas; Order consolidation,
- Route planning, Dispatch both Local and Line-haul, Returns, Vehicle maintenance and in so doing ensure that both legal and customer requirements are met.
Minimum Requirements: Essential:
- Grade 12 - Matric or Senior Certificate and relevant
- Relevant Degree/Diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain Management
- Minimum 3 Years Management experience in Distribution, Logistics or Supply Chain Environment
Advantageous
- Experience in the Retail/Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Experience with SAP, EWM or other ERP systems
Job Specification…
- Ensure optimal route and space planning to meet the day-to-day strategic objectives
- Understand and execute the planning process involved when stock leaves the distribution centre
- Routing of vehicles in such a manner to ensure optimum utilisation and vehicle turnaround times
- Ensure all deliveries picked the previous day, are delivered the next day to local stores and within 48 hours to Coastal stores
- Managing the productivity within the Department
- Ensure all managers and supervisors in department manage their staff efficiently
- Resolve personnel problems by analysing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions and take corrective action
- Ensure accurate administration for transactional excellence and POD requirements
- Effective and efficient resolution and communication of internal and external customer day-to-day queries
- Prevent and act on security or risk issues and ensure that risks are dealt with proactively
- Identify supplier issues that impact required financial objectives and address them at the appropriate level internally and externally

Special conditions of employment
- South African Citizen
- MIE, clear criminal and credit
- Driver's license and/or own reliable transport
- Be able to work any shift i.e. day, night, weekends, holidays and overtime as per business and operational requirements
- Be able to adapt to working hours according to business needs
- Must be willing to be rotated to where needed and must be willing to perform any other functions within the department, should the need arise
- May at times need to lift or move heavy boxes – ensure health and safety standards
