DATA ANALYST

The successful candidate will report to the Group IT Manager .

Responsibilities

• Create compelling and insightful reports and dashboards using Power BI to communicate findings to stakeholders

• Analyse sales and marketing data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for optimisation

• Research industry benchmarks and ensure that correct benchmarks are used as measurement standards

• Extract and transform data from multiple sources, including MySQL, MS SQL, and PostgreSQL databases

• Cleanse and preprocess data to ensure accuracy and consistency

• Assist in database administration tasks, including performance tuning, and security

• Collaborate with the IT team to ensure the integrity and availability of data;

• Work on data engineering tasks, such as data pipeline development and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes

• Optimise data storage and retrieval processes for efficiency

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, and IT, to gather data requirements and provide data-driven insights

• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business objectives and translate them into data analysis projects

• Assist in ad hoc tasks as instructed by management

Skills, Qualifications and General Requirements

• Minimum of Grade 12 qualification ;

• Appropriate tertiary qualification with a focus in Business/ Finance/ Accounting/ Economics or 3 years working experience in the Credit/ Banking/ Finance industry, will serve as a requirement;

• Understanding of data analytics concepts will serve as a requirement;

• Proven 2 years’ work experience in data analysis and visualisation in the FMCG (retail) industry will serve as a requirement;

• Data analytics certification will be beneficial;

• Strong computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office , especially Excel will serve as a requirement ;

• Strong expertise in Power BI / Tableau or other data visualization tools will serve as a requirement ;

• Experience with SQL and databases such as MySQL, MS SQL, and PostgreSQL will be beneficial;

• Knowledge of data engineering concepts and tools will be beneficial;

• Knowledge of Python will be beneficial;

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills will serve as a requirement ;

• Strong communication skills to convey complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders;

• Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently or in a team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;

• A proactive attitude towards identifying and addressing data-related issues; and

• Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English (verbal and written communication).
