Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose Statement To unlock value from data by making it accessible, meaningful and actionable for stakeholders across the organisation. This role transforms complex data into insights that support strategic decision-making, optimise operations and improve business performance. By identifying trends, patterns and opportunities, the Data Analyst enables informed, data-driven decisions and contributes to our goal of being an insights-driven organisation.
What makes this role different
This is not a traditional Data Analyst role. In addition to analysing data and generating insights, you'll engage directly with stakeholders, gather and translate business requirements, and develop initial solution prototypes. Success in this role requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen and strong communication skills, enabling you to deliver value in a fast-paced, high-volume payments environment. What you'll do
• Engage stakeholders directly — gather requirements, understand business needs and prototype initial solutions • Perform complex data analysis and statistical modelling2 on high-volume datasets • Work with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver data-driven insights • Communicate and present findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders • Contribute to data modelling and get exposure to engineering concepts • Use AI tools — including Copilot and Claude — as active partners in your analysis, not just shortcuts Minimum Experience
• Honours degree in an analytics or STEM or related field, PLUS at least 5yrs relevant experience OR • Bachelor degree in an analytics or STEM or related field, PLUS at least 8yrs relevant experience OR • Equivalent experience of 8 yrs relevant experience and/or relevant certifications. • Proven experience in data analysis at high-volume scale • Track record of leading data analysis projects and driving business impact through data insights • Advanced use of SQL, Python, R, Tableau or Power BI • Experience working with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver insights • Experience presenting findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders Qualifications (Minimum)
• Bachelor's Degree in Analytical/Data/Technical or Other Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)
• Honours Degree in Analytical/Data/Technical or Other Knowledge
• Advanced SQL — complex queries, performance optimisation and large datasets • Advanced Excel, including macros and VBA • Data visualisation tools — Tableau, Power BI or similar • Python or R • Statistical methods and predictive analytics techniques and their application in data analysis • Data modelling techniques to structure and organise data effectively • Risk analysis methods and their application in financial services Conditions of Employment
