DATA ANALYST [AVIATION] - 12 MONTH CONTRACT

Introduction

Our client, a well-established organisation operating in the aviation sector, is seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst to join their team on a 1-year contract based in Pretoria. This role is ideal for a detail-driven analyst with exceptional Microsoft Excel capabilities, who thrives on turning raw data into clear, actionable insight.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and consolidate data from multiple sources into structured, reliable datasets

• Build and maintain advanced Excel models, dashboards, and reporting tools

• Design and automate recurring reports using formulas, pivot tables, macros/VBA, and Power Query

• Analyse trends, patterns, and anomalies to support operational and business decision-making

• Present findings and recommendations clearly to non-technical stakeholders

• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and version control across reporting processes

• Collaborate with various departments to understand data needs and improve reporting efficiency

• Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes through smarter Excel-based solutions

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Proven, demonstrable advanced Excel skills (essential) — including but not limited to:

• Advanced formulas (INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP, nested IF, array formulas)

• Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts

• Power Query / Power Pivot

• Macros/VBA automation (advantageous)

• Data validation, conditional formatting, and dashboard design

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail

• Relevant qualification in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Business Analytics, or similar (advantageous)

• Prior experience in a data analyst, reporting analyst, or similar role

• Experience working with large, complex datasets

• Strong communication skills and ability to translate data into business insight

• Familiarity with additional BI/reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, SQL) advantageous but not essential

• Aviation, logistics, or related industry experience advantageous but not essential
