A leading financial services client is seeking a Data Analyst to support its Transactional Banking (TxB) Technology teams in Johannesburg. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategic decisions across payment platforms, cash management systems, and digital transaction solutions—perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
Key Duties
- Analyse large and complex datasets across payments, cash management, digital channels, and transactional platforms.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and optimisation opportunities.
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or Excel.
- Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reports.
- Uphold data quality, lineage, and governance standards.
- Conduct data validation and reconciliation across key TxB systems.
- Engage with product owners, delivery teams, architects, and business stakeholders to understand data needs.
- Provide ad-hoc analytical insights for leadership and strategic initiatives.
- Support technology projects with data for integrations, migrations, and platform enhancements.
- Monitor feature adoption and client behaviour post-deployment.
Requirements
- Strong SQL skills (T-SQL, PostgreSQL, or similar).
- Experience with data visualisation tools, preferably Power BI.
- Proficiency in Python or R (advantageous but not essential).
- Understanding of APIs, data interfaces, and integration concepts (advantageous).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, ideally Azure.
- Familiarity with transactional banking, payments, or digital channels.
- Ability to interpret data within a financial services and risk/compliance context.
- Understanding of agile practices such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Strong analytical skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and clear communication abilities.
- Collaborative, proactive mindset with a passion for continuous learning.
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or related field.
- 2–4 years’ experience as a Data Analyst or in Business Intelligence.
- Experience within technology, banking, or fintech environments (advantageous).
- Exposure to payments, EFT rails, real-time payments, cash management, or digital transaction platforms (preferred).
