Cylindrical Grinder

Introduction

An established engineering company is seeking an experienced Cylindrical Grinder. The successful candidate must have hands-on experience setting up and operating cylindrical grinding machines, interpreting complex technical drawings and producing components according to tight tolerances.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the appropriate cylindrical grinding machinery and production equipment

• Grind components accurately according to technical drawings, specifications and required tolerances

• Read and interpret complex technical drawings

• Use precision measuring equipment correctly to inspect completed work

• Perform basic calculations relating to measurements and machining requirements

• Conduct basic machine maintenance

• Follow all production instructions and operating procedures

• Assist junior employees when required

• Communicate effectively regarding production timelines and targets

• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment

• Complete relevant general administrative duties

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Matric

• Approximately 5 years’ cylindrical grinding experience within the engineering or precision manufacturing industry

• Hands-on experience setting up and operating cylindrical grinding machines

• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings

• Proven ability to work accurately according to tight tolerances

• Experience using precision measuring equipment correctly

• Ability to perform basic technical calculations

• Own reliable transport is essential

• Must reside in Johannesburg, Pretoria or within reasonable travelling distance of Olifantsfontein

Must be willing and available to work overtime and weekends when required
