- To supply medication efficiently and professionally to patients, wards and theatre. The incumbent, under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist, prepares prescriptions, selects and compounds medication and accurately labels medication before dispensing.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
- NQF: 4 Certification.
- CSSD CPD Course.
Minimum Experience
- 1-2 years' hospital experience.

- Computer literacy.
DELIVERABLES
- Ensure that infection prevention standard operating procedures are applied consistently and effectively.
- Ensure a tidy, clean and uncluttered work area at all times in order to promote effective task completion.
- Accurately test the autoclave as a quality control measure on a daily basis to ensure it effectively sterilizes equipment and to eliminate contingencies in theatre.
- Escalate any problems with the autoclave to Line Manager / Unit Manager for maintenance and resolution.
- Ensure the cleaning and sterilization of all equipment and materials in preparation for procedures and according to standard operating procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Continuously re-sterilize equipment and materials, as and when required.
- Correctly prepare all cleaning solutions required for the daily cleaning and disinfecting of instruments, as per manufacturing criteria.
- Ensure the hygienic and sterile packaging and sealing of any theatre equipment or prosthesis according to standard operating procedures.
- Ensure that the sterilization indicator is present on every pack and that every pack is correctly marked.
