Introduction

The Midland Group is seeking a Manager with extensive agricultural and crop farming experience to join our team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Includes, but is not limited to the following

  • Develop and implement crop farming plans (e.g. hectar allocation, seed selection, chemical and fertilizer usage).
  • Schedule and oversee planting, cultivation, and harvesting activities.
  • Conduct farming-related calibrations.
  • Collect, evaluate, and treat soil/ground samples.
  • Perform map evaluations for land use and crop planning.
  • Oversee farming activities and ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Manage spraying operations, including drone-based surveying, monitoring and spaying.
  • Maintain accurate records of farming activities, inputs, and outputs.
  • Prepare and communicate reports on crop performance, resource usage, and operational efficiency.
  • Utilise drone technology for land surveying, crop health monitoring, and spraying.
  • Evaluate farming processes for continuous improvement and sustainability.
  • Perform routine and ad hoc administrative tasks.
  • Perform other farming-related tasks as assigned to ensure efficient farm operations.
  • Perform any other tasks as instructed, required, necessary or as expected to be performed.
  • Travel to multiple sites accross South Africa as neccessary for work-related purposes.

Desired Experience & Characteristics

Includes, but is not limited to the following

  • Sound knowledge of agricultural and crop farming processes and practices.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Good communication, leadership and organisational skills.
  • Flexible and willing to work extended hours during peak farming seasons.
  • Proven managerial experience.

Package & Remuneration
