Duties and responsibilities
- Produce high-quality CADs using Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Research international fashion, footwear and current trends.
- Identify and interpret trends in product, styling, colour and the fashion market.
- Bring creative ideas and concepts to the table proactively, rather than waiting to be briefed.
- Conduct online and international trend research and translate findings into commercially relevant product ideas for different retail customers.
- Explore and utilise AI, e-commerce, digital design and new tools to improve and speed up design and development processes.
- Manage multiple briefs and deadlines while working effectively within an office-based team environment.
- Contribute to the development of the women's and girls' footwear product, trend and creative direction over time.
- Work with major South African retail customers and international suppliers as part of the broader product development process.
- Use creativity and technical skills to help identify future product opportunities and turn ideas into relevant commercial products.
Requirements
- Strong Illustrator and Photoshop skills, with the ability to produce good-quality CADs.
- Genuine passion for fashion, footwear and current international trends.
- Strong eye for product, styling, colour and developments within the fashion market.
- Creative and proactive, with the confidence to contribute ideas independently.
- Comfortable conducting online and international trend research.
- Ability to translate trends into commercially relevant product ideas.
- Interest in AI, e-commerce/digital design and new design tools.
- Strong team player who is comfortable working in an office environment.
- Ability to manage multiple briefs and deadlines.
- Relevant fashion, product or design industry experience would be preferable.
- Exceptional graduates or young designers with a standout portfolio, strong technical ability and the right creative mindset will also be considered.
- Previous footwear experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Strong creative eye, energy and willingness to learn.
- Ideally suited to a female candidate, with the opportunity to eventually take greater ownership of the women's and girls' footwear product, trend and creative side of the business.
