Start free — we apply for you →Job DescriptionInstall, commission, and configure advanced automated machinery from project initiation through to final handoverDiagnose, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC control systems to maximise machine reliability and performanceConfigure and support industrial automation systems, machine control software, HMI interfaces, and industrial networksPerform PLC fault finding, software modifications, and system commissioning (programming experience is advantageous)Support and maintain industrial communication networks, including IP networks, fibre optic systems, and machine communication infrastructureConfigure electronic control systems, sensors, weighing systems, and automation equipmentCarry out electrical installations, panel wiring, machine calibration, and commissioningProvide expert after-sales technical support, reducing downtime through rapid PLC and automation troubleshootingAnalyse recurring machine faults and implement long-term automation improvements to increase efficiency and reliabilityTrain customers on PLC-controlled machinery, automation systems, and preventative maintenance best practicesProduce detailed technical reports and communicate improvement recommendations to engineering teamsTravel throughout South Africa and internationally to commission equipment and provide technical supportSkills & ExperienceStrong experience with PLC troubleshooting, diagnostics, and industrial automationPLC programming experience is advantageous (Omron experience highly beneficial)Experience with industrial communication protocols, IP networking, fibre optics, and machine control systemsKnowledge of HMI systems, sensors, actuators, drives, and industrial electronic control systemsStrong electrical and electronic fault-finding skills within automated manufacturing or agricultural environmentsExperience commissioning automated machinery and integrating control systemsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and customer-facing skillsFluent in Afrikaans and English (Spanish or French would be advantageous)QualificationsElectro-Mechanical Trade Test (e.g. Millwright) or Diploma/Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, or Automation EngineeringValid drivers licenceValid passport with willingness to travel extensively within South Africa and internationallyOnly South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.Connect with us on https://www.jobplacements.com/Jobs/P/PLC-Technician-1315980-Job-Search-08-05-2026-10-15-18-AM.asp?sid=gumtree
