Introduction

To monitor and control capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expenditure (OPEX) across enterprise and mobile consumer operations, ensuring spend remains within the approved cost baseline. The role is responsible for identifying cost leakages where deviations occur and flagging non-conformance costs requiring corrective management action.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Track and report CAPEX and OPEX spend against approved budgets/cost baselines for enterprise and mobile consumer operations.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify deviations from the agreed cost baseline.
  • Investigate root causes of cost overruns and pinpoint specific areas of cost leakage.
  • Identify and classify non-conformance costs (e.g., rework, penalties, contract breaches, wastage) and escalate for corrective action.
  • Prepare periodic cost and progress reports for management, highlighting risks, trends, and recommended interventions.
  • Work with project, finance, and operations teams to implement cost-control measures and recovery plans.
  • Support budget planning and forecasting cycles with accurate historical cost data and trend insights.
  • Maintain cost tracking tools/dashboards for real-time visibility of project and operational spend.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, procurement policies, and governance standards.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. Added bonus on Engineering degree in the telecommunications industry.
  • 4–7 years' experience in cost management, cost control, or financial analysis, ideally within telecoms, enterprise IT, or mobile/consumer operations.
  • Strong understanding of CAPEX/OPEX frameworks and project cost control methodologies.
  • Proficiency in cost management tools, ERP systems, and advanced Excel/reporting tools.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, PMP, or Cost Management certification) is an advantage.
