Start free — we apply for you →An established engineering and manufacturing company in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Costing Engineer to join their team and support project and production cost management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analysing project costs and supporting tendering and pricing activities within an engineering environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare accurate cost estimates based on project specifications, drawings and technical data.
- Analyse material, labour and overhead costs to determine project budgets and pricing.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement and Production teams to gather relevant cost information.
- Monitor cost trends and provide costing reports to management.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Maintain and update costing databases and documentation.
- Support tendering and bidding processes with detailed costing analysis.
- Assist with project and production cost management as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated experience in a costing, estimating or similar engineering role.
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Project Management or a related field will be advantageous.
- Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in HVAC, ventilation, fans or related applications will be highly advantageous.
- Bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
- Strong mathematical and analytical ability.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Computer literate and comfortable working with costing data and software.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, methodical and results-driven.
