JOB PURPOSE: To provide a comprehensive cost accounting service to the Supply Chain Manufacturing units by ensuring accurate standard costs, effective cost control processes, and reliable reporting. The Cost Accountant ensures that costing systems are maintained, variances are analysed, and production data is accurately reflected to support informed business decisions. MAIN TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES: Costing & Standard Cost Maintenance • Ensure accurate and complete Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all manufactured products • Maintain and update BOMs and standard costs • Ensure all material components have accurate standard costs • Review and update standard costs according to the annual costing calendar Cost Analysis & Reporting • Analyse, investigate, and report on production cost variances • Report actual production costs versus standard costs • Compile costing packs for new product development • Perform post-season reviews and compile detailed reports Production & Inventory Support • Ensure all production costs are accurately accounted for • Support and assist production departments on cost-related queries • Assist with inventory-related ad hoc transactions • Assist with reconciliation of inventory balance sheet accounts • Assist with goods-in-transit reporting for monthly journals Financial Controls & Reconciliations • Maintain accurate and timeous reconciliations • Implement and oversee control systems to ensure effective shop-floor administration • Ensure standard costs in company systems are always up to date • Assist with annual budget preparation and uploads Ad Hoc & Administrative Duties • Resolve and follow up on all cost-related queries • Perform special costing projects as required • Complete ad-hoc tasks assigned by management
