Start free — we apply for you →- Our client is seeking an experienced, commercially minded, and analytical Corporate Underwriter to join their Johannesburg team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical underwriting expertise, excellent relationship-building skills, and the ability to make sound, profitable risk decisions.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and existing corporate business within guidelines
- Assess risks and determine appropriate terms and pricing
- Build strong relationships with brokers and key stakeholders
- Manage renewals, amendments, and portfolio performance
- Analyse risk and profitability to support underwriting decisions
- Prepare renewal reviews, broker presentations, and reports
- Collaborate with claims, risk engineering, and operations teams
Requirements
- Relevant insurance qualification
- Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience in Corporate Asset Programs
- RE5 qualification and FAIS compliance
- Insurance regulatory knowledge
- Strong technical underwriting and negotiation skills
- Excellent relationship management and communication abilities
