- The Mid-Weight Copywriter brings strong writing expertise to the Creative Studio, working within an in-house team that operates according to an agency-style creative model.
- Partnering with designers from the briefing stage, this role helps create integrated work where copy and design come together as one cohesive idea.The role delivers compelling, on-brand writing across a wide range of formats, contributes to concept development, and consistently applies the Momentum Group tone of voice. Under the guidance of the Senior Copywriter, the incumbent will continue to develop writing craft, conceptual thinking, and strategic understanding.
- This role forms part of a Creative Studio that is evolving toward a more agency-style operating model, where ideas are shaped early in the creative process rather than applied later.
- This evolution strengthens the studio's ability to deliver high-quality, dependable writing capabilities in-house.The role reduces reliance on external copywriting support and helps ensure that Momentum Group's collective voice is expressed with consistency, creativity, and craftsmanship across all studio outputs.
- As the studio's second writer, working alongside the Senior Copywriter, the Mid-Weight Copywriter delivers high-quality work while building toward senior-level capability, influence, and strategic contribution
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English or a related field.
- 3-5 years of copywriting experience in an agency, in-house agency, marketing, brand or communications environment.
- A portfolio demonstrating strong writing craft, conceptual thinking and executional range across multiple channels.
- Experience partnering with designers to develop creative solutions rather than writing in isolation.
- Strong command of grammar, structure, editing and storytelling fundamentals.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven and regulated environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, including Copilot, and confidence using AI tools within the creative process.
- Financial services experience is advantageous.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Craft and ExecutionProduce clear, compelling, on-brand copy across campaign, digital, social, print, internal communication and change communication formats adapting one idea across formats, brands, audiences and channels while keeping the message consistent.
- Translate business, brand and product information into audience-focused, persuasive communication.
- Contribute to concept development alongside designers and the Senior Copywriter, bringing ideas into the room rather than simply responding to completed creative.
- Demonstrate growing proficiency across long-form, short-form, campaign, digital and conceptual writing disciplines.
- Apply disciplined editing practices to improve clarity, simplicity, flow and impact before work reaches review stage.
- Take work from brief to execution with increasing independence while maintaining quality standards
Writing Quality and Consistency
- Apply the Momentum Group tone of voice consistently across all work, in line with frameworks and standards set by Group Brand.
- Self-edit, proofread and quality-check work before review, ensuring accuracy, clarity, consistency and readability.
- Apply plain-language principles where appropriate to improve audience understanding.
- Work to the craft standards established by the Senior Copywriter and actively incorporate feedback to strengthen output.
- Follow regulatory, compliance and legal approval processes, escalating complex or high-risk content where required.
Creative-Team Pairings - How the Studio Works
- Partner with designers from brief-in in the agency creative-team tradition.
- Develop concepts collaboratively rather than adding copy after creative solutions have already been formed.
- Contribute a writing perspective during creative reviews, critiques and concept discussions.
- Take creative direction from the Senior Copywriter and Lead: Creative Studio.
- Raise creative, strategic or execution risks early to protect quality and delivery.
Learning and Craft Development
- Actively develop writing craft, conceptual thinking and creative judgement.
- Take coaching from the Senior Copywriter and apply learning to future briefs.
- Seek, receive and act on feedback with maturity and professionalism.
- Build deeper knowledge of Momentum Group brands, products, audiences and business priorities.
- Grow toward senior-level capability, versatility and strategic contribution.

- Take briefs from Marketing Partners and business stakeholders, asking questions that improve clarity and strengthen outcomes.

- Escalate issues appropriately when support or intervention is required.
AI in Writing
- Use AI as a partner in the writing process for drafting, ideation, editing, adaptation and iteration.
- Apply professional judgement to all AI-assisted outputs and remain accountable for final quality.
- Follow Creative Studio guardrails governing appropriate AI usage.
- Use AI to improve both turnaround times and quality without compromising writing craft.
- Contribute to the studio's evolving AI-first ways of working.
Trends and Inspiration
- Keep abreast of writing, content, creative, brand and communication trends.
- Bring relevant inspiration, examples and creative references into the studio.
- Contribute to learning forums, critiques, workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Demonstrate curiosity about evolving creative practices, technology and audience behaviour.
Copy quality control and release
- Review and quality-control the copy on all Studio work before it is released back to the briefer, ensuring it is clear, accurate, on-brand, fit for purpose and aligned to the approved brief.
- Identify and resolve copy issues before release, including tone, grammar, messaging clarity, consistency, factual accuracy and avoidable rework risks.
- Confirm that final copy has followed the required brand, legal, compliance and stakeholder sign-off routes where applicable.
