Job Title: Coordinator: Community Upliftment and Enterprise Development (CUED) Start Date: 2026-04-20 - 2026-08-31 Vacancy Type: Contractor PE000315 Sectors: NPO/NGO Location: Eastern Cape, South Africa , Port Elizabeth Salary: Brief: awareness|community engagement|community upliftment|education|workshops Location: Gqeberha, EC Type of Employment: Full- time, 12-month Fixed Term Contract Sector: Non-profit - Conservation (Blue/ Ocean Economy) Sustainable Seas Trust (SST) is a science-based non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting Africa's seas and uplifting coastal communities . SST's work contributes to six UN Sustainable Development Goals, spanning quality education, sustainable economic growth, ocean conservation, and partnerships for development. SST seeks a CUED Coordinator to support the operational coordination and implementation of community-focused activities linked to SST's marine pollution programmes . Reporting to the Manager: Research, Development and Monitoring (RDM), this role is responsible for coordinating logistics, stakeholder engagement , and field-level activities , ensuring community-facing work is delivered efficiently and in line with SST's facilitative mandate. Key responsibilities Coordinate workshops, training sessions, meetings , and community engagements in line with approved OCS and MCIP programme plans Serve as the operational point of contact for communities, schools, buy-back centres, and local stakeholders. Maintain accurate operational records , including attendance registers, meeting notes, and follow-up actions. Support data collection and documentation related to enterprise and community activities under RDM direction Maintain and update operational expenditure trackers and submit supporting documentation for management approval. Provide field-level reporting inputs and supporting documentation for programme and MEL requirements. Contribute field-based stories, photographs , and updates to support SST's communications and stakeholder engagement. Identify and escalate operational risks and implementation issues appropriately to relevant managers. Key requirements Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Development Studies, Business Management, Environmental Education, or a related field — a master's degree is preferred 3–5 years' experience in project coordination, community development , or enterprise development , ideally within the NGO or sustainability sectors Demonstrated ability in stakeholder engagement and partnership management Competence in budget tracking , procurement coordination, and resource allocation Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and familiarity with project management tools Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly within South Africa Strong written and verbal communication skills in English ; an additional African language is advantageous Conditions On-site, Gqeberha — relocation required ; remote work is not available 12-month fixed-term contract , renewable to February 2028, subject to performance and funding Performance-based bonus and enhanced leave policy included in CTC If you are organised, community-focused , and motivated by environmental impact , we want to hear from you.
