Conveyor Systems Draughtsman

An established engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Conveyor Systems Draughtsman to join its technical design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing detailed mechanical drawings and engineering documentation for conveyor systems and bulk materials handling equipment , working closely with engineers, project teams, fabricators and clients to ensure designs are accurate, practical and delivered within project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings for conveyor systems and associated equipment.
• Develop general arrangements, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and detail drawings.
• Prepare drawings for conveyor structures, chutes, transfer points, pulleys, idlers, guards and supporting steelwork.
• Interpret engineering calculations, sketches and design specifications.
• Incorporate engineering design changes and maintain drawing revisions.
• Prepare accurate BOMs, material lists and fabrication information .
• Ensure drawings are suitable for manufacturing, fabrication and site installation.
• Review drawings for dimensional accuracy, constructability and compliance with project requirements.
• Assist engineers with design development and technical documentation.
• Update existing conveyor layouts and equipment drawings.
• Incorporate site measurements and red-line mark-ups into final as-built drawings.
• Maintain drawing registers and document control.
• Liaise with engineers, project managers, workshop personnel, fabricators and suppliers.
• Ensure all drawings are completed accurately and within agreed project timelines.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Mechanical Draughting, Mechanical Engineering or a related field .
• 35 years' experience in mechanical draughting, preferably within conveyor systems, mining, materials handling or heavy engineering.
• Proven experience producing detailed mechanical and fabrication drawings.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and calculations.
• Experience working with steel structures and fabricated equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and drawing accuracy.
