- Grade 12.
- Five to eight years' relevant experience with supervisory experience.
- Computer literacy – MS Office applications.
Key attributes and competencies
- Oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
- The incumbent will be required to monitor the various systems linked to the Control.
- Centre and initiate the necessary emergency action to incoming calls.
- Emergency response coordination, computer literacy, attention to detail.
- Decision-making and problem-solving, monitoring and dispatching.
- Technical aptitude, information management, attention to detail.
- Client and service delivery orientation, interpersonal skills, information update and record-keeping.
- Supervises and controls the performance indicators and outcomes of employees based in the Control Centre.
Physical requirement of the post
- The incumbent sits most of the day but works long shifts 12 hours at a time.
- Special conditions attached to the post:
- Required to work shifts and overtime.
Job purpose
Is responsible for the daily operation of the Control Centre and duty rooms, including:
- Receiving emergency calls.
- Dispatching of emergency vehicles and personnel.
- Providing communication support for operational staff in the field.
- As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
