- We are looking to recruit a 6-month Fixed- term contract_Contract Governance Specialist Legal to work for United Pharmaceutical Distributors UPD. The role will be based at the Roodepoort Lea Glen branch and will report to the Demand and Supply Planner Manager.
Job description
Job Purpose
- To provide dedicated contract governance and legal support to UPD by managing the contract lifecycle, improving contract data integrity, and ensuring that UPD agreements are current, compliant, and effectively governed within ClickDox, thereby mitigating legal, commercial, operational and reputational risk.
Job Objectives
- Document Drafting and Review: Assisting in the preparation, drafting, formatting, and proofreading of various legal documents, including contracts, agreements, non-disclosure agreements NDAs, and amendments.
- Contract Lifecycle Management: Managing and tracking contracts throughout their entire lifecycle, ensuring all deadlines, renewals, extensions, and close-outs are handled appropriately and on time.
- Legal Research and Analysis: Conducting legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends e.g., contract law, compliance regulations to ensure all contracts meet legal requirements.
- ClickDox Management: Own the migration and ongoing management of all UPD agreements within ClickDox, including document collection, ingestion, metadata quality, classification, and lifecycle governance, ensuring the repository remains complete, current, and aligned to Group legal operations standards. Communication and Coordination: Serving as a point of contact and liaison between internal departments e.g., procurement, finance, and business units, external clients, vendors, and legal counsel regarding contract-related matters.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensuring that all contract terms and conditions align with corporate policies, procedures, and applicable laws and identifying any non-conforming performance or potential risks.
- Negotiation Support: Assisting in the negotiation process by preparing documentation, tracking communications, and occasionally participating in negotiations for low-to-moderate complexity agreements.
Skills
- Computer skills on MS Office Word and Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for drafting documents and liaising with various stakeholders. Meticulous attention to detail is crucial for reviewing and proofreading complex legal documents for accuracy.
- The ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines is critical for managing a high volume of contracts
Knowledge
- Bachelor of Laws LLB
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, contract drafting, risk management, and membership with relevant bodies
- A strong understanding of contract law principles and legal terminology is essential.
Personal Competencies

- Communicate effectively at all levels.
- Strong planning and co-coordinating skills
Minimum requirements
Education and Qualifications
- Matric
- Completed or studying towards a tertiary qualification in bookkeeping, accounting, cost or management accounting.
Experience
- 1-2 years accounting experience
- Knowledge of SAP advantageous
