Detail: Requirements: National Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Science, or a related field. SACPCMP registration (or eligibility). Health & Safety qualification (SAMTRAC or equivalent). Minimum 5–10 years' construction management experience. Minimum 5 years managing multiple construction projects. Experience in commercial, industrial, and residential roofing projects. Experience managing subcontractors and project teams. Strong budgeting and cost-control experience. Knowledge of construction project management. Knowledge of roofing systems and installation methods. Knowledge of South African building regulations. Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act. Knowledge of Construction Regulations. Knowledge of contract administration. Knowledge of budgeting and financial management. Knowledge of quality management systems. Knowledge of project scheduling software. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Responsibilities: Manage the master construction programme and project schedules. Plan and allocate labour, equipment, and resources across multiple projects. Review project specifications, drawings, and contract documentation before commencement. Participate in pre-contract and handover meetings. Ensure projects are properly planned before construction begins. Monitor project progress and implement recovery plans where delays occur. Conduct weekly planning and progress meetings with the construction department. Coordinate activities with Design, Procurement and Commercial departments. Manage multiple construction projects simultaneously. Provide leadership and technical guidance to Project Managers and Site Supervisors. Ensure projects are completed according to contractual requirements. Monitor project progress against programme and budget. Ensure projects are delivered within agreed timelines. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor workmanship, productivity, and compliance. Approve project completion and site handovers. Ensure snag lists are completed and closed out. Resolve construction issues and provide practical solutions. Ensure all required project documentation is maintained. Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers and construction teams. Manage subcontractor performance and relationships. Allocate resources according to project requirements. Conduct performance reviews with direct reports. Identify training and development requirements. Promote teamwork and accountability. Assist with recruitment of site staff and subcontractors when required. Maintain and improve the subcontractor database. Ensure full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations. Ensure project-specific Health & Safety files are implemented and maintained. Conduct regular site safety inspections. Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions. Ensure all employees and subcontractors comply with company safety procedures. Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the construction department. Ensure all required permits, inspections, and statutory documentation are maintained. Ensure workmanship complies with company quality standards and project specifications. Conduct quality inspections throughout project execution. Ensure defects are rectified promptly. Verify that all project sign-offs are completed before project close-out. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve construction quality. Manage departmental operating costs. Monitor project budgets and profitability. Control labour, plant, equipment, and material costs. Minimise wastage and improve resource utilisation. Review project costs against budgets and implement corrective actions where necessary. Approve project-related expenditure within delegated authority. Ensure materials are available according to project schedules. Monitor equipment utilisation. Reduce unnecessary equipment hire and subcontracting costs. Ensure effective utilisation of company assets. Attend client meetings when required. Maintain professional relationships with clients, consultants, architects, engineers, and suppliers. Address client concerns promptly and professionally. Provide regular project progress updates. Assist in resolving contractual and operational issues. Conduct weekly project review meetings. Prepare progress reports for management. Report on project performance, budgets, risks, and resource requirements. Communicate effectively across all departments. Escalate significant project risks to senior management. Improve construction processes and efficiencies. Develop and implement best practices. Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve productivity. Assist in developing departmental procedures and standard operating procedures. Promote innovation within the construction department. Working Conditions: Frequent travel to project sites. Combination of office and site-based work. Outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Occasional overtime and weekend work as required.
