Safran Electronics & Defense is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Configuration Support Engineer to join our Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining configuration management processes across the product lifecycle, ensuring that engineering data, documentation, product structures, and changes are accurately controlled and traceable.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with quality, customer, and regulatory requirements while supporting cross-functional manufacturing teams.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and maintenance of Configuration Management (CM) processes and procedures.
- Control and maintain product configuration baselines throughout the product lifecycle.
- Administer and manage engineering documentation, drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical records.
- Coordinate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Ensure configuration identification, status accounting, traceability, and verification activities are completed accurately.
- Support configuration audits and reviews.
- Maintain product data within ERP, PLM, and document management systems.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Project teams to ensure configuration integrity.
- Generate reports and configuration metrics for management review.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2-5 years' experience in Configuration Management, Engineering Support, Technical Documentation Control, or a related environment.
- Experience within manufacturing industry will be advantageous.
- Exposure to PLM, ERP, or configuration management systems.
- Understanding of Configuration Management principles and processes.
- Knowledge of engineering drawings, BOM structures, and product lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience with document control systems and engineering databases.
- Familiarity with ISO, AS9100, or similar quality management systems is advantageous.
