- The Health Compliance sub-pillar within Product Compliance is looking for a great person to join the team as a Compliance Guidance Officer to assist the Discovery Health group to effectively and efficiently manage its responsibility to comply with all the regulatory requirements and minimise the compliance risks identified in business.
Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to
- Assist management to define, set and manage the compliance framework, policies and standards specific to the function.
- Assist management with identification and evaluation of compliance exposures/regulatory breaches.
- Facilitate compliance and provision of guidance on applicable regulatory requirements, policies and strategic objectives by using compliance risk management principles.
- Provide strategic guidance and support on all regulatory matters.
- Independent compliance monitoring of the applicable business units.
- Engagement with first line compliance functions to provide guidance and independent challenge on compliance matters.
- Input into monthly and quarterly compliance reports to Senior Management, Board Committees and Boards.
- Provide content and input into regulatory training and awareness initiatives to relevant training teams.
- Track regulatory incidents and breaches and keep incident and breaches register up to date.
- Input into monthly and quarterly compliance reports
- Engagements with Regulators and with other interest groups in the medical schemes industry.
- Support management in the development and maintenance of the Compliance Risk Management Plans CRMPs as applicable to the business unit.
- Facilitate and assist with regulatory reporting, requests and queries.
- Ensure that specific team annual objectives are met.
- Monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of compliance controls and measures.
- Monitor the efficiency and consistency of any oversight arrangements.
- Give input into and update the relevant compliance monitoring programs where necessary.
- Engagement with regulatory bodies from time to time.
Education and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- The person must have a clear and in-depth understanding of the Medical Schemes Act and the medical scheme administration and managed care environment
- At least 3 to 5 years proven medical scheme compliance experience.
- Experience in drafting Compliance Risk Management Plans and conducting Compliance monitoring.
