Job Purpose

  • Coordinate and facilitate public participation processes by developing and maintaining good relations with the community in accordance with the relevant legislation, policies and guidelines.

Duties

  • Compile the ward committee operational plans based on the planning requirements agreed upon by the ward committee.
  • Facilitate the compilation of the ward development planning process.
  • Implement and monitor the ward committee operational, development plans and discretionary fund allocations.
  • Support the immediate superior with the establishment of regional forums to serve as avenue to facilitate functional information and receive public comment.
  • Attend to the logistics for the election process Booking of venues per ward including set up and arrangement of venue.
  • Coordinate the induction of newly appointed ward committee members.
  • Provide feedback to all role players on concerns raised during ward committee and public meetings.
  • Support in the drafting of and implement Public participation plan as consulted with all Councilors and officials.
  • Update and maintain the database.
  • Liaise with the Speaker`s office, Ward Councillors, Ward Committees and Communities.
  • Interaction with the established community-based organizations regarding community development issues.
  • Prepare and submit monthly plan and reports on all Ward Committee related activities to the immediate superior.
  • Report all service delivery complaints registered in Ward Committee meetings to the internal departments and to immediate superior.
  • Ensuring that all the administration relating to the refuelling of the designated vehicle is in accordance with the applicable Municipal Policy and Procedures.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety procedures according to the OHS policy of Council.

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification in Community Development or equivalent NQF – Level 5
  • 2 years relevant experience
  • Computer literate MS Office
  • Valid Code B driver's license
  • Proficient in at least two 2 of the three 3 official langauges of the Western Cape
