Description

  • NACOSA is looking for a Communications Intern to join the Communications team as part of the Social Employment Fund SEF Programme.
  • The Communications Intern will support the Communications team with content development, social media, internal communications and general administrative tasks. The role will provide exposure to a wide range of communications functions while contributing to the promotion of NACOSA's organisational work and the stories and impact of SEF community-based organisations CBOs.

The duties and responsibilities of the Communications Intern will include, but not limited to:

  • Support creation of content for social media, newsletters, and NACOSA's website.
  • Assist with drafting copy for digital platforms and internal communications.
  • Help maintain and update content calendars, schedule posts.
  • Prepare and distribute internal communication materials staff bulletins, announcements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support internal messaging.
  • Contribute to communication materials for events, campaigns, and programmes.
  • Participate in planning and executing communication initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support such as meeting coordination, filing, and note-taking.
  • Assist with coordinating design, printing, and branded materials logistics.
  • Attend team meetings and campaign briefings to gain practical exposure.
  • Engage in feedback and mentoring sessions for ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • A National Senior Certificate Matric / Grade 12 is required.
  • Current student or recent graduate with a Diploma or bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Strong grasp of grammar, spelling and written communication, with the ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audiences.
  • Some exposure to or understanding of digital communications, particularly social media.
  • Basic knowledge of content creation, including social media posts, blogs, infographics and short videos.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to work in an organised and professional manner.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office.eed to

Advantageous

  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Express or other basic graphic design and content creation tools.
  • Previous involvement in student media, community projects or volunteer work related to communications, media or advocacy.
