Purpose of position

  • To support the accurate, timely and well-controlled administration of commission transactions within King Price Life Insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the integrity of the commission function, ensuring accurate information, validation, payments and governance.
  • Administer commission payment function in validating calculations, reconciliation and actioning the payment thereof either weekly or monthly.
  • Support and collaborate administer commission transactions for Intermediaries and Independent Representatives in line with approved commission structures and business rules.
  • Validate commission calculations against policy data, intermediary agreements and commission models to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support weekly and monthly commission payment cycles, ensuring all reconciliations and approvals are completed prior to payment.
  • Assist in administering upfront commission, ongoing commission, reversals and clawbacks in a life insurance context.
  • Maintain accurate commission records, supporting documentation, approvals and audit trails.
  • Perform reconciliations between commission calculations, payment files, policy data and finance/payroll records.
  • Identify, investigate and escalate discrepancies, including overpayments, underpayments and control gaps.
  • Support governance and financial controls by ensuring all commission payments are validated and appropriately authorised.
  • Assist in monitoring and administering clawbacks and commission-related debt recovery processes.
  • Engage with Intermediaries, Representatives, Finance, Payroll and Operations to ensure smooth commission processing.
  • Respond to commission-related queries accurately and timeously, with clear communication of outcomes.
  • Prepare and distribute commission statements and related reporting in line with payment cycles.
  • Maintain organised records of reconciliations, approvals, payments, queries and recovery actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls and enhance efficiency within the commission function.

Requirements

  • Matric essential.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related field advantageous.
  • 1 - 3 years' experience in commission administration, finance administration, insurance operations or similar.
  • Exposure to financial services, insurance or life insurance environments is advantageous.
  • Understanding of intermediary or broker commission structures is beneficial.
  • Experience with upfront commission, clawbacks and recoveries in life insurance is preferable.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel data handling, reconciliations, formulas.
  • Basic understanding of life insurance operations and commission principles.
  • SQL knowledge or data querying skills would be advantageous.
