An established Brokerage organisation is seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter to join its team in Pietermaritzburg .
This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented underwriting professional with solid commercial insurance experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing policy administration, supporting brokers, liaising with insurers and clients, and delivering exceptional service while ensuring compliance with service level agreements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Process new business, policy renewals and endorsements
- Source and compare quotations from insurers
- Provide underwriting and administrative support to brokers
- Respond to client, broker and insurer enquiries promptly and professionally
- Review policy schedules to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies
- Identify and implement corrective actions relating to renewals and endorsements
- Maintain accurate records and follow up on outstanding quotations, documentation and tasks
- Ensure compliance with service level agreements and internal procedures
- Perform general underwriting and administrative duties as required
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Commercial Underwriter
- Minimum 3 years' experience within the short-term insurance industry
- Experience in both commercial and domestic underwriting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- RE5 qualification advantageous
- NQF Level 5 qualification in Underwriting or Short-Term Insurance advantageous
- Knowledge of statutory and legislative requirements advantageous
- Experience with CIMS and Nimbis systems advantageous
