COLLECTIONS & DIGITISATION DEPARTMENT
- COLLECTIONS ASSISTANT – Five months fixed-term contract positions, which may be extended depending on funding – 4 positions
- Basic Salary: R 19 218.00 per month, plus benefits
Job Grade: 13
- Requirements: Grade 12/BSc or equivalent Ideal: Relevant 3 year degree/diploma in relevant field of study Proven experience in working with natural history museum specimens/collections Proven experience in working with the Specify database or similar database Computer literacy in Microsoft 365 A valid driver's license is not a requirement but may be an advantage
Key Responsibilities include
- Assist with the maintenance of collection data, including the development of inventories, stocktaking, and other clerical tasks Assist with packing, unpacking, and moving of collections material under the supervision of Collections Managers Provide general assistance in storage areas Clean material in storage and on display under the supervision of the Collections Manager Assist in the preparation, accessioning, and registration of new specimens and objects as required.
