About the Role
A leading, privately-owned wholesale supplier of quality frozen fish and value-added products is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Cold Store Manager to lead operations at its 300 Ton facility. You will oversee the end-to-end warehouse functions—including receiving, handling, picking, packing, inventory control, and cold chain integrity—while supervising a team of approximately 15 employees.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Cold Chain & Stock Operations: Maintain strict cold chain integrity, control inventory using FIFO principles, conduct regular stock takes, and manage containerized imports and export dispatches .
- Fleet & Logistics Management: Direct dispatch operations and manage a fleet of 6 delivery vehicles, communicating with drivers for efficient delivery and collection .
- Team Leadership: Schedule and manage the warehouse team to reach performance goals, minimize overtime, and build a customer-centric culture .
- External Storage & Returns: Oversee external cold storage stock movement, authorize product releases, and resolve customer complaints or returns .
- Facility & Quality Control: Inspect machinery/equipment, maintain high HACCP quality standards, and enforce safe work practices .
Desired Experience & Qualification
Key Requirements
- Education: Matric Certificate (Grade 12) plus a Degree/Certificate in Logistics or Supply Chain Management .
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in a cold chain warehouse management role supervising ~15 staff .
- Systems: Proficiency with computerized WMS (Sage 200 Evolution preferred) and MS Office .
- Quality & Regulations: Familiarity with HACCP Food Quality Systems .
- Languages & Attributes: Bilingual in English and Afrikaans, valid driver's license, clear criminal record, and strong leadership skills .
- Environment: Comfortable working in a cold, noisy environment and managing early morning starts .
