CODE 14 CROSS-BORDER DRIVER

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is looking for experienced and reliable Code 14 Drivers with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) to join their transport operations.

The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation and delivery of goods across South Africa and neighbouring countries, including Eswatini (Swaziland), Zimbabwe and Malawi .

This position requires drivers who are comfortable with long-distance and cross-border travel , overnight trips and working according to operational requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safely operate Code 14 heavy-duty vehicles on local and cross-border routes.

• Transport and deliver goods safely and efficiently to designated destinations.

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.

• Ensure the vehicle, load and required documentation are properly maintained.

• Comply with road traffic regulations and company safety procedures.

• Complete all required trip sheets, delivery notes and related documentation.

• Ensure goods are transported and delivered safely and on time.

• Communicate with the transport/logistics team regarding delays, incidents or route-related issues.

• Report vehicle defects, accidents, breakdowns or other incidents immediately.

• Secure and protect the load throughout the journey.

• Follow applicable border-crossing, customs and immigration procedures.

• Maintain professional conduct when dealing with customers, border officials and other stakeholders.

• Be prepared to spend nights away from home depending on trip requirements.

CROSS-BORDER EXPERIENCE

Preference will be given to candidates with practical experience in

• South Africa → Eswatini

• South Africa → Zimbabwe

• South Africa → Malawi

• Cross-border freight transportation

• Border-crossing procedures and documentation

• Long-distance transportation

• Overnight and extended-distance trips

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Drivers must be willing to work according to operational and trip requirements.

• Meal and overnight allowances may apply depending on the trips undertaken and company policy.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Valid Code 14 / EC Driver’s Licence.

• Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit).

• Proven experience as a Code 14 / heavy-duty truck driver .

• Previous cross-border driving experience is essential.

• Experience travelling between South Africa and Eswatini, Zimbabwe and/or Malawi will be highly advantageous.

• Good knowledge of road safety and heavy vehicle regulations.

• Good understanding of vehicle inspection and basic vehicle safety requirements.

• Ability to complete and maintain trip and delivery documentation.

• Clear criminal record, subject to verification.

• Medically fit to perform long-distance driving duties.

• Good communication skills.
