Job Title: Cobol Programming Language and Support Service Start Date: 2026-08-20 - 2026-09-19 Vacancy Type: Contractor PE011698 Sectors: Developers Information Technology Location: Gauteng , Tshwane (Pretoria) Salary: Market Related Monthly Cost To Company (Market related) Brief: Scope of work: General scope The service provider will be required to provide a COBOL resource who also has VB programming too: Design, develop, and maintain the company's legacy systems. Create, modify, and test codes and scripts to allow the legacy system to continue to function as required. Monitor system performance and proactively identifying potential issues to prevent downtime. Monitor periodical data backups and ensure that backups are done and adequately secured. Contribute to the development and implementation of Annual Performance Plan, Annual Operational Plan and Departmental ICT strategy. Coordinate organization maintenance and support associated with the in-house developed applications and associated matters. Perform data analysis specific to information that impacts on the in-house developed applications. Coordinate the preparation and other associated activities for the cleansing, preparation and migration of the data on the company's legacy systems to any other application which the company may implement. Ensure systems documentation is generated and kept up to date. Implement approved changes as per change control processes. Maintain and support existing legacy systems and new business applications. Manage risk for the areas of responsibility within the company Investigate and resolve complex systems issues across the applications. Database design activities. Manage, control/drive or participate in ad hoc projects that arise from time to time. Perform ad hoc tasks as delegated by the line manager/ supervisor responsible. Perform reporting in line with the company's reporting schedule. Deliverables: The service provider must deliver: Continuous system maintenance and support. Resolved incidents and system fixes. Continuous system enhancements. Continuous system security patches, updates and backups. Updated technical documentation. Monthly reports. Skills and knowledge transfer to the nominated ICT team. Compliance with internal and external audit. Bi-annually disaster recovery test at the recovery site.
