Job Title: CNC Operator (Setting and Milling) - Modderfontein Start Date: 2026-08-04 - 2026-09-03 Vacancy Type: Permanent PTA001983 Sectors: Engineering & Technical Location: Gauteng , JHB - Eastern Suburbs Salary: R13 000 - R17 000 Monthly Brief: Role Purpose Our client is seeking a skilled CNC Operator to join their manufacturing and production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machinery to manufacture high-quality precision components in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. The role requires strong technical knowledge of CNC machining processes, machine setup, tooling, and G-code programming, while maintaining a safe, efficient, and organised workshop environment. Key Responsibilities CNC Machine Operation Set up CNC machines and load programs for production. Operate CNC machinery to perform turning, milling, drilling, tapping, chamfering, and other machining operations. Prepare and conduct test runs to verify CNC program outputs. Load raw materials and ensure correct machine setup prior to production. Monitor machine performance throughout the production process to ensure quality and efficiency. Perform daily machine inspections and basic preventative maintenance. Maintain machining tools and equipment in good working condition. Production & Manufacturing Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and technical specifications. Manufacture components in accordance with production schedules and quality requirements. Inspect and measure machined components before and after machining. Submit workpieces for quality control inspections at the appropriate production stages. Ensure finished products meet dimensional and quality specifications. Workshop Support Assist with the assembly of valves, piping systems, and related components when required. Assist with pressure testing activities as needed. Support general manufacturing and workshop operations. Carry out deliveries and collections when required. Quality & Safety Ensure compliance with quality standards and manufacturing procedures. Maintain accurate workmanship throughout all machining operations. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all health and safety requirements. Identify and report equipment faults, production issues, or quality concerns promptly. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised machine shop and CNC work area. Housekeeping Organise and maintain CNC machinery, tooling, and work areas. Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the workshop. Perform additional duties as reasonably required to support production operations. Detail: Role Requirements Qualifications Matric / Grade 12. Mechanical Engineering qualification or relevant technical certification will be advantageous. G-code Programming Certification will be advantageous. Experience Minimum 3–5 years' CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience operating CNC turning and milling machines. Experience within the metal engineering, valve manufacturing, or pipe fabrication industries will be advantageous. Knowledge & Skills Good knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, and Syntec CNC control systems. Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and machine setup. Good knowledge of G-code programming. Sound knowledge of machining tooling and cutting equipment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation. Strong numerical and mathematical aptitude. Good understanding of units of measurement and precision machining. Strong planning, organisational, and communication skills. Ability to work accurately under pressure while meeting production deadlines. Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills. Forklift operating experience will be advantageous. Own reliable transport will be advantageous. Preference will be given to candidates residing within approximately 20 km of Modderfontein, Johannesburg. Must be physically fit and capable of lifting heavy components safely.
