Cloud Platform Engineer

Duties

• Support the development and implementation of the organisation's infrastructure strategy.
• Design and deploy cloud solutions aligned with AWS Well-Architected Framework principles.
• Develop technical specifications and architectural blueprints for highly available, resilient, and scalable environments.
• Provide guidance on AWS and other cloud technologies to ensure optimal service selection and cost efficiency.
• Assist in defining and maintaining cloud security standards, procedures, and controls.
• Support the identification and mitigation of infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operational risks.
• Engineer, manage, and support cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) methodologies.
• Manage cloud environments, hosted services, and on-premises infrastructure platforms.
• Perform operational maintenance, upgrades, patching, and ongoing support of servers and operating systems.
• Design and implement backup, recovery, and business continuity processes.
• Ensure infrastructure reliability, performance, scalability, and security.
• Support platform optimisation initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Act as a technical advisor for new infrastructure and platform requests.
• Assist with workload prioritisation and allocation across platform initiatives.
• Promote engineering best practices, automation, and operational excellence.
• Mentor and support technical team members.
• Contribute to the continuous evolution of DevOps and Platform Engineering capabilities.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in cloud engineering or related roles.
• Deep experience with AWS services including VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, RDS, EKS/ECS.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture, governance, security, and operational best practices.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools and methodologies.
• Experience with cloud security standards and risk mitigation.
• Proven ability to support and optimise cloud environments.
