- Facilitating the teaching and learning of clinical skills for MBChB students within a simulated learning environment, ensuring alignment with curriculum outcomes and best practices in health professions education.
- Planning, coordinating, and conducting the assessment of clinical skills for MBChB students, primarily within simulation-based learning settings, including formative and summative assessment activities.
- Planning, preparing, and implementing clinical skills teaching sessions, ensuring appropriate learning resources, equipment, and simulation scenarios are available and effectively utilised.
- Developing and reviewing study materials, lesson plans, learning activities, and peer-assisted learning tools to support student learning and engagement.
- Collaborating and communicating with the Clinical Skills Unit SCSU staff regarding session requirements, scheduling, equipment needs, and logistical arrangements to ensure the smooth delivery of teaching and assessment activities.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within clinical skills education through participation in curriculum development, quality assurance processes, and the evaluation of teaching and assessment practices.
- Providing guidance and support to students in developing clinical competence, professional behaviour, communication skills, and confidence within a safe learning environment.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as Professional Nurse.
- At least two years' experience in facilitation and/or assessment of clinical skills for higher education students.
- At least three years' appropriate experience in a clinical area.
- The ability to solve problems independently and effectively.
- The ability to work together in a team in challenging conditions.
- The ability to manage conflict.
- Computer skills MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Own transport and a valid driver's licence, as well as the willingness to travel to distributed clinical sites.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- Postgraduate qualification in Health Professions Education/Health Sciences Education/Nursing Education.
- Experience in the teaching and assessment of students in simulation.
- Current BLS for Health Care Provider certificate.
- Any of the following courses: ACLS, ANLS, PBLS of APLS, ATLS, or ITLS.
