The Clerk Expeditor serves as the primary point of contact for customers, clients, and vendors, handling service requests by managing, monitoring, coordinating, or escalating them in alignment with established procedures and performance objectives . This role is essential to ensure a streamlined supply chain, efficient inventory management, and uninterrupted operational flow.
Key responsibilities include coordinating with suppliers, carriers, and logistics partners to schedule inbound shipments. This involves managing booking arrangements, confirming pickup and delivery schedules, and ensuring accuracy of shipment details, such as times, dates, and locations.
The Clerk Expeditor also facilitates operational communication across multiple platforms, serving as a liaison between customers, stores , and internal or external stakeholders. Communication may occur via phone, email, messaging platforms , or other relevant channels to ensure timely and accurate information sharing.
Key performance areas
Inbound Logistics Management
Expedite inbound orders received the previous day to ensure timely processing.
Receive, validate , and process daily inbound orders from client vendors.
Schedule vendor deliveries in alignment with Pick n Pay (PnP) requirements and allocated inbound slots.
Confirm inbound orders via One Network and email communication with vendors and DC inbound teams.
Publish and communicate daily inbound plans to relevant stakeholders.
Expedite vendors daily to ensure on-time delivery to DC ’ s as per booking slots.
Vendor & Distribution Coordination
Schedule and manage PnP vendor collections and inter-DC transfers.
Capture and maintain accurate vendor information for KPI tracking and reporting.
Manage and update the vendor database to ensure data integrity.
Communicate all Backhaul (Payload) reports to relevant teams.
Notify operations of any deviations reported by perishable vendors.
Reporting & Administration
Generate and manage daily inbound reports for perishable and grocery items.
Perform administrative tasks including
Capturing load data into One Network.
Recording and investigating in-transit claims.
Administering collection requests.
Transact on customer and vendor online platforms for order and delivery management.
Outbound & Store Support
Provide outbound delivery status updates to stakeholders.
Communicate any outbound route delays promptly.
Expedite resolution of store delivery delays.
Coordinate re-routes in collaboration with the tracking team.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
Engage with customers via an online chat platform to address queries and provide support.
Communicate service-related updates and information as required by the business.
Qualification required
Matric
A tertiary qualification in Logistics/ Logistics Management will be an advantage.
Skills and experience required
Up to 3 years of experience in a supply chain environment.
Previous retail supply chain experience will be an advantage.
Previous C all Centre or customer service experience will be an advantage.
