- Grade 12 certificate or equivalent. Degree in Optometry. Registration certificate & current registration with the HPCSA. A minimum of 3 years' appropriate experience after registration with HPCSA as an independent Optometrist. Good communication skills written and verbal. Knowledge of PFMA, Ideal Clinic, and other relevant policies, protocols, and guidelines.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care. knowledge and understanding of PFMA, Knowledge of the departments constitutional mandate. Statistical analysis skills.
- Reporting skills and problem-solving skills. Experience in Public Health Care sector will be an added advantage. Computer literacy MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams; Zoom. Must be proactive, innovative and an independent team leader. A valid driver's license.
Duties
- Render Optometry service in the allocated area of responsibility in the district that complies with the standards and norms of the Gauteng Department of Health. Provide overall management of the allocated staff to ensure smooth service delivery in Community Health Centres CHC's and clinics. Develop and monitor an operational plan for optometry services.
- Implement and contribute to the proper utilisation of allocated financial and physical resources. Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, stats, ensure proper data management, and perform other administrative duties. Establish a good working relationship with other stakeholders within the district e.g., Non-communicable Disease, Integrated School Health Programme, etc. Provide community-based services with the focus on health promotion, prevention, and community intervention.
- Knowledge on Performance Management and Development System. Participate in continuous professional development activities. Implement quality assurance policies and develop appropriate quality improvement plan for Optometry. Attend management and stakeholder meetings and forums. Ensure adherence to government policies and protocols. Perform any other duties delegated by Supervisor/Manager.
