This is a high-impact role suited to a strategic thinker with a strong technical background in underground mining and a passion for operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and operational leadership across all underground mining sites
- Drive safety, productivity, cost-efficiency, and sustainable mining practices
- Oversee engineering, production, and operational performance
- Collaborate with executive leadership on long-term growth, innovation, and risk management
- Develop and implement KPIs, business plans, and operational strategies
- Ensure compliance with mining legislation, health and safety regulations, and industry standards
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team and promote a high-performance culture
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering (GCC Mines & Works advantageous)
- Minimum 15 years experience in underground mining, with at least 5 years at executive or senior leadership level
- Strong technical understanding of underground mining methods, ventilation, and geotechnical practices
- Proven ability to manage complex operations, large teams, and high-value budgets
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and crisis management skills
- Registered with a recognised engineering body (e.g., ECSA) is an advantage
