You will play a pivotal role in identifying new investment opportunities, guiding investment committee decisions, and maximizing long-term portfolio value.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute the organization's investment strategy in line with long-term growth objectives.
- Provide strategic oversight of the existing investment portfolio, ensuring optimal performance and value creation.
- Identify emerging market trends and investment opportunities across multiple sectors.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing investment team while fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Deal Origination & Execution
- Lead the origination, evaluation, and execution of new investment opportunities.
- Structure complex investment transactions and negotiate commercial terms.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with investors, management teams, advisors, and key stakeholders.
- Drive transaction execution from initial opportunity through to financial close.
Investment Analysis & Due Diligence
- Lead comprehensive financial, commercial, operational, and strategic due diligence processes.
- Evaluate investment opportunities through detailed financial modeling, valuation, and risk analysis.
- Present well-supported investment recommendations to senior leadership and investment committees.
- Oversee formal investment committee processes and governance requirements.
Portfolio Management
- Monitor the financial and operational performance of portfolio investments.
- Partner with portfolio company management teams to drive strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
- Identify opportunities to enhance profitability, growth, and shareholder value.
- Oversee portfolio reporting, performance measurement, and investment exit strategies.
Stakeholder Management
- Build trusted relationships with executive leadership, investors, boards, and external advisors.
- Represent the organization in negotiations, industry engagements, and strategic partnerships.
- Provide thought leadership on investment strategy and market developments.
Job Experience & Skills Required
- CA(SA), CFA, or MBA qualification.
- 714 years of experience within private equity, corporate finance, investment banking, infrastructure investing, principal investing, or a related investment environment.
- Proven experience leading investment transactions from origination through execution.
