Start free — we apply for you →Job Title: Chief Financial Officer - Johannesburg Start Date: 2026-08-28 - 2026-09-27 Vacancy Type: Permanent PTA002000 Sectors: Finance Location: Gauteng , JHB - Northern Suburbs Salary: (Market related) Brief: Role Purpose The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for providing strategic and operational financial leadership across a multi-entity, project-driven business. The role oversees the full finance function, ensuring sound financial governance, accurate reporting, effective cash-flow and working-capital management, commercial decision-making, financial controls and regulatory compliance. The incumbent will partner with the Board and Executive Management to support sustainable growth, profitability and business performance while driving the professionalisation and continuous improvement of the finance function. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic and hands-on financial leadership across the Group, including operating and project entities. Act as the principal financial advisor to the Board, shareholders, CEO and Executive Directors on financial, commercial and strategic matters. Develop and implement appropriate financial structures, policies, procedures, controls and delegated authorities. Lead accurate monthly and annual financial close processes, Group consolidations, intercompany accounting, management reporting and annual financial statements. Manage audit preparation and ensure the finance function remains audit-ready. Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, reforecasting, scenario planning and financial performance management. Manage treasury, liquidity, banking relationships, cash-flow forecasting, working capital, collections and intercompany funding. Provide commercial financial input into pricing, margins, deal structures, production economics, investment cases and new revenue opportunities. Oversee production finance from project greenlight and budgeting through cost reporting, completion forecasting, delivery and project close-out. Strengthen financial governance, internal controls, risk management, tax and statutory compliance, fraud prevention and related-party oversight. Drive finance transformation through improved processes, automation, systems, data governance, dashboards and decision-useful reporting. Develop financial and operational reporting to support informed business decision-making. Identify financial risks, trends and opportunities and provide recommendations to Executive Management and the Board. Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, promoting accountability, service excellence, professional development and continuous improvement. Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, financial institutions, professional advisors and business partners. Ensure the finance function operates efficiently and supports the commercial and operational objectives of the business. Detail: Role Requirements CIMA professional qualification, preferably ACMA/CGMA, supported by an appropriate Honours degree or equivalent NQF Level 8 qualification. CA(SA) or an equivalent senior finance qualification will also be considered. Approximately 12–15 years' progressively responsible finance experience , including substantial experience at CFO, Finance Director or equivalent executive level. Proven experience managing a multi-entity or Group finance environment , including consolidations, intercompany accounting and Board-level reporting. Demonstrated experience in building, professionalising or transforming a finance function within an entrepreneurial, growth-oriented or changing environment. Strong commercial finance, financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, liquidity, working-capital and funding experience. Strong understanding of financial governance, controls, risk management, tax and statutory compliance. Experience in film, television, media, content production, advertising, entertainment, studios or another project-based creative environment would be highly advantageous. Strong production/project finance experience would be advantageous. Proven ability to provide commercially focused financial advice and influence strategic decision-making. Strong leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to develop and motivate a capable finance team. Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with sound commercial judgement. Hands-on, pragmatic and solutions-oriented approach. Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity, competing priorities and changing business requirements.
