Start free — we apply for you →- The Chief Financial Officer CFO role at the Water Research Commission WRC is a fixed-term executive position requiring a highly qualified, results-driven financial professional. The ideal candidate should have strong financial management, strategic planning, problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- The CFO will be responsible for overseeing the organisation's financial operations, ensuring sound financial governance, effective resource management, compliance, and supporting the WRC in achieving its strategic objectives. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Executive Officer.
- The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for the development and implementation of the finance strategy; accountable for internal and external audit results; ensure compliance; provide strategic financial support to Board and EXCO; ensure effective and efficient functioning of the Finance Branch; drive performance excellence and demonstrate exemplary leadership behaviours.
- Suitable applicants must be in possession of an Honours Degree or Post-graduate qualification NQF level 8 in Accounting or Finance related field. Chartered Accountant CA or equivalent professional qualification would be an added advantage. MBA/MBL/MCOM NQF level 9 or other equivalent Internationally recognised Finance qualification will also be an added advantage.
- 10 years' Financial Management experience is required of which at least 5 years should be at Senior Management level. Experience within the Public Sector would be an added advantage.
