About the Role

  • As a Chief Financial Officer, you will serve as a strategic and commercial partner to the South Africa leadership team, providing insight, challenge, and guidance to support business growth and performance. The role combines financial stewardship, business partnership, and leadership responsibilities, helping to drive decision-making, identify opportunities, and deliver sustainable business outcomes across the South Africa business.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted strategic and commercial partner to the Managing Director and South Africa leadership team.
  • Contribute actively to the development and execution of the South Africa business strategy and long-term priorities.
  • Lead the financial planning, forecasting and performance-management processes for the South Africa business.
  • Translate financial and operational data into clear insights and actions for the Managing Director and leadership team.
  • Identify the underlying drivers of revenue, margin, cost and cash performance and work with business leaders to address risks and opportunities.
  • Lead, develop and coach the South Africa finance team, building strong commercial, analytical and business-partnering capability.
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls, governance and risk-management processes are maintained in accordance with LexisNexis and RELX requirements.
  • Champion the use of data, technology and AI to improve Finance effectiveness, business insight and decision-making.

Requirements

  • Strong financial judgement with the ability to influence business strategy and performance.
  • Experience acting as a strategic and commercial business partner to senior leadership teams.
  • Strong financial planning, forecasting and performance management capabilities.
  • Ability to translate complex financial and operational data into clear business insights and actions.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen with experience evaluating growth, profitability, investment and resource-allocation opportunities.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and team development skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage finance and non-finance stakeholders effectively.
  • Experience working within a controlled governance environment with accountability for financial integrity, risk management and compliance.
