Job Title: Central or SADC Africa Sales Engineer Start Date: 2026-08-04 - 2026-08-18 Vacancy Type: Permanent JHB012583 Sectors: Engineering & Technical Sales, Marketing and PR Location: South Africa , Gauteng Salary: Brief: SALES ENGINEER (AUTOMATION SOLUTIONS) – CENTRAL & SADC AFRICA - MUST BE FLUENT IN FRENCH Location Gauteng, South Africa Employment Type Full-Time Overview An established engineering and automation solutions company is seeking an experienced and driven Sales Engineer to support business growth across Central and SADC Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strategic customer relationships, driving technical sales, and supporting clients with innovative industrial and automation solutions within the petrochemical, mining, and related industries. This role is ideal for a technically strong sales professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys extensive travel across Africa. Detail: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Drive sustainable sales growth within Central and SADC African markets. Identify new business opportunities and expand existing customer relationships. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders. Prepare and deliver professional technical and commercial presentations, proposals, and quotations. Understand customer operational requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions. Manage complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and long-term projects. Conduct regular customer visits and market development activities. Support customer retention through effective service coordination and problem resolution. Work closely with internal departments including technical, operations, and finance teams. Maintain accurate CRM/ERP records and customer account information. Assist with debt collection and account management where necessary. Represent the business at industry exhibitions, demonstrations, and networking events. Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and market developments. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Qualifications National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technical Sales, Marketing, or a related technical field. Postgraduate qualifications will be advantageous. Experience Minimum 8 years' technical sales experience within the petrochemical, mining, or industrial sectors. Proven track record in B2B technical sales across African markets. Experience managing complex technical and commercial proposals. Strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems and industrial technologies. Experience with fuel management systems will be advantageous. Experience working with ERP systems such as Sage or similar platforms. REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Strong technical and commercial acumen. Excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all organisational levels. Strong relationship-building and account management abilities. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team environment. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Fluent in English. French language proficiency is essential. WORKING CONDITIONS Extensive travel throughout Africa, particularly Central and SADC regions. Occasional travel outside standard business hours. Flexibility to work additional hours when required. Hybrid flexibility may be considered based on operational requirements.
