Job Overview: Our client is looking for a reliable, responsible and observant CCTV & Incident Monitoring Coordinator to work in their private control room during the night shift. The control room monitors approximately 600 CCTV cameras using AI-supported monitoring technology. The system identifies activity involving people or vehicles and generates alarms requiring attention. The successful candidate will review and assess alarm activations, check the relevant CCTV footage and determine whether the activity appears to be normal/expected activity or requires further investigation. Where potentially unauthorised or suspicious activity is identified, the candidate will follow the established escalation procedure, including contacting the relevant manager and the appointed security service provider to arrange an appropriate response. This is an office-based monitoring and coordination position and is not a traditional security guarding or patrolling role. The client is looking for someone who is accurate, calm, trustworthy, process-driven and able to exercise sound judgement. The ideal candidate will be down-to-earth, respectful, dependable and mature in their approach, with good manners, strong personal integrity and the ability to remain focused during a night shift. Previous security or control room experience will be advantageous, but the client is open to candidates from other backgrounds where they can demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, good judgement, computer literacy and the ability to follow established processes. Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate
  • Previous experience in monitoring, administration, operations, control room, dispatch, CCTV, security or a similar environment will be advantageous, but is not essential .
  • Basic computer literacy and confidence in learning and working with monitoring systems.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to accurately assess information.
  • Able to distinguish between normal/expected activity and activity that may require further investigation.
  • Able to follow established procedures and escalation processes consistently.
  • Good communication skills in Afrikaans and/or English.
  • Able to remain calm and make sensible decisions when dealing with unexpected situations.
  • Comfortable working independently without constant supervision.
  • Able to remain alert and focused during a night shift and throughout repetitive monitoring tasks.
  • Must be comfortable working a 3-on, 2-off night-shift roster, including weekends.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when required.
  • Reliable, responsible and trustworthy, with a strong sense of personal accountability.

Duties

  • Monitor AI-generated alarms and associated CCTV activity during the night shift.
  • Review relevant CCTV footage when an alarm is generated.
  • Assess whether detected people or vehicles appear to be workers, expected activity or potentially unauthorised activity.
  • Use available information and established procedures to determine the appropriate action.
  • Contact the relevant manager when required.
  • Contact the appointed security service provider when potentially suspicious or unauthorised activity requires a security response.
  • Provide clear and accurate information regarding the location and nature of an incident to the relevant parties.
  • Follow established escalation procedures and ensure incidents are dealt with appropriately.
  • Accurately record alarm activations, observations, incidents, actions taken and responses received.
  • Escalate unresolved, unusual or significant matters to the relevant manager.
  • Maintain accurate records throughout the shift.
  • Remain attentive and consistent when dealing with a high volume of alarm activations.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with managers, security personnel and other relevant parties.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties related to the monitoring and coordination function
