CATTLE & FEEDLOT MANAGER
JOB PURPOSE
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of cattle and feedlot operations , including livestock feeding programmes, animal handling, staff supervision and general farm operations.
Must hold a B.Sc. Agriculture or B Agriculture degree , have proven experience in cattle farming and farm maintenance , and possess strong leadership, communication, planning and organisational skills . Duties & Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the day-to-day running and management of cattle within the allocated section.
- Oversee livestock feeding programmes and ensure that nutritional requirements are effectively managed.
- Receive, inspect and transfer livestock in accordance with operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of livestock activities and assist with relevant reporting.
- Monitor cattle health, condition and general welfare.
- Ensure that livestock management practices comply with established standards and procedures.
- Stay informed of industry developments, trends and relevant technical knowledge.
- Assist with general farm maintenance and ensure that facilities and equipment are maintained to the required standard.
- Promote a positive and productive working environment by effectively motivating and supporting staff.
- Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are followed and demonstrate safe working practices.
- Comply with all occupational health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Perform any additional duties reasonably delegated by line management in support of achieving feedlot objectives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- B.Sc. Agriculture or B Agriculture degree.
- Previous experience in cattle farming or feedlot operations.
- Experience in general farm maintenance.
- Sound understanding of livestock nutrition and cattle management.
- Computer literate.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and work effectively with staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- A practical, hands-on approach to livestock and farm management.
Package & Remuneration
R25 000 - R35 000 - Monthly
