The purpose of this position is to drive and promote the business through the buying of promotional and replenishment stock, communication and leadership to retailers, upholding the retail policy and maintaining category and divisional profits, retail profitability, stockholdings and service levels. Duties & Responsibilities
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Negotiating with sales representatives from suppliers • Maintaining comprehensive records of all transactions with suppliers • Negotiating deals and prices to achieve competitive retail prices and budgeted gross profit for the DC and Retail • Managing stock levels and service levels against sales and budget • Managing product and service levels against sales and budget • Managing product ranges within specified product categories • Achieving targeted DC sales and gross profit • Be part of advertising / consumer trends • Drive sales through special promotions • Drive sales through innovation SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
- National Senior Certificate (Matric)
- Diploma or Degree in Purchasing or Commerce – Recommended
- Minimum 5 years’ working experience in the liquor industry
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of buying systems and processes
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of product range requirements within a supermarket environment
- Proven negotiating skills
- Strong drive, initiative and creativity
- Hands-on approach to problems and solutions

- Computer literacy
- Knowledge on the SAP system would be beneficial.
- Previous F.M.C.G. buying experience is required.
