Furniture Technician

An established furniture retailer is seeking an experienced and hands-on Furniture Technician to join their team. The ideal candidate will have practical experience working with wood, upholstery materials, and furniture components, with strong attention to detail and a passion for quality workmanship. Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with wood and various materials used in furniture manufacturing and repairs.
  • Measure, cut, and prepare materials according to specifications.
  • Operate cutting tools and equipment safely and accurately.
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of different furniture materials and their applications.
  • Operate a sewing machine for furniture-related materials and upholstery.
  • Cut, sew, and prepare upholstery materials for furniture.
  • Perform upholstery and re-upholstery of furniture pieces.
  • Remove and replace existing upholstery materials where required.
  • Ensure all finished furniture meets the required quality standards.
  • Assist with general furniture repairs, alterations, and modifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Furniture Technician, Upholsterer, Furniture Maker, or similar role.
  • Practical experience working with wood and furniture materials.
  • Experience with cutting and measuring materials.
  • Knowledge of upholstery materials and techniques.
  • Sewing machine experience is essential.
  • Proven experience in furniture upholstery and re-upholstery.
  • Good attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good hand skills and practical problem-solving ability.
