Are you an engineer who enjoys the commercial side of mining as much as the technical?
Our client is an established player within the mining and mineral-processing equipment sector and is looking for a Capital Sales Engineer to join its Business Development team.
This isn't purely a proposals position. You will be involved from the early stages of identifying an opportunity, understanding what the client needs and developing the right equipment solution, through to preparing the commercial proposal and helping turn the opportunity into an order.
You will work directly with mining clients, project engineers, consultants and EPC companies , building relationships and becoming involved in both new projects and equipment replacement opportunities.
What will you be involved in.
- Identifying new mining projects and capital-equipment opportunities
- Building relationships across mines, engineering consultancies and EPC companies
- Understanding client process, throughput and equipment requirements
- Developing appropriate equipment selections and technical solutions
- Preparing technical and commercially costed proposals
- Working with CAPEX, OPEX and lifecycle costing
- Participating in technical presentations and site assessments
- Supporting commercial negotiations and the conversion of opportunities into orders
- Managing your opportunity pipeline and maintaining long-term client relationships
- Supporting the handover of successful orders into project execution
- Representing the company at industry exhibitions and events
Desired Experience & Qualification
- BEng Mechanical, Mining or Process Engineering, or equivalent BTech
- Minimum 2 years' tender and capital sales experience
- Capital equipment experience within mining or heavy engineering
- Strong commercial and costed proposal experience
- African mining exposure advantageous
- Crushing and comminution exposure advantageous
- Able to travel locally and internationally
- Valid Code B driver's licence and passport
