- The primary responsibility of this role is to translate fashion concepts, trends, product briefs, and creative direction into commercially relevant, accurate, and visually compelling CAD artwork, technical design outputs, and production-ready surface prints. You will manage the end-to-end print and CAD development process—from initial concept through to supplier handover, sample evaluation, and in-store visual execution across apparel, accessories, footwear, and beauty.
Qualifications
- A relevant diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Textile Design, or a related creative discipline.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in an apparel graphic design or CAD role, with a strong focus on print, surface artwork, and technical flats for ladieswear.
- Portfolio: Demonstrable portfolio of CAD technical flats and print work across multiple techniques all-over print, placement, motif, and embroidery.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop; experience with CorelDRAW and InDesign is advantageous.
- Industry Knowledge: Sound understanding of garment construction, repeat structures, fabric behavior, print technique constraints, Pantone color systems, and production file preparation.
- Retail Context: Ladieswear retail experience preferred, ideally within fashion or value retail.
- Competencies: High attention to detail, strong time-management skills under tight deadlines, and the ability to collaborate and iterate based on feedback.
Key Responsibilities CAD & Technical Design Execution
- Create accurate, detailed fashion CADs and technical flats for ladieswear, including front, back, and detail views.
- Illustrate garment features such as seams, trims, pockets, collars, cuffs, pleats, gathers, fastenings, and embellishments.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, proportion, scale, line quality, and presentation.
- Efficiently amend CADs based on feedback from Design, Buying, Sourcing, and Product Development.
Trend Interpretation & Visual Merchandising Strategy
- Research and translate global fashion, cultural, and seasonal trends into commercially viable design concepts for the target customer.
- Support the Trend & Design team with trend research, visual research, and concept mood boards.
- Apply knowledge of color theory, typography, spatial planning, and retail design principles to support seasonal merchandise planning and in-store visual storytelling.
- Monitor local and international competitor activities, retail innovations, and emerging fashion directions.
Print, Graphic & Artwork Development
- Manage the end-to-end print development process from initial concept through to supplier handover.
- Create, adapt, and prepare repeat prints, placement prints, motif graphics, and embroidery artwork for supplier execution.
- Ensure production suitability regarding print technique constraints, fabrications, and Pantone color accuracy.
- Manage artwork revisions, resolve supplier queries, and maintain an organized digital asset library.
Product Development & Sample Sign-Off
- Partner closely with Buyers, Designers, Sourcing, Product Development, Marketing, and Suppliers throughout the development lifecycle.
- Convert initial design concepts into commercially viable product proposals and supplier CAD packs.
- Review physical samples against approved CADs and artwork master files to identify visual discrepancies and implement corrections.
- Balance creative vision with commercial objectives to drive customer engagement, sales, and profitability.
Color, Fabric & Visual Presentation
- Support seasonal color palette development and accurately apply colorways and textures to CADs.
- Develop visually compelling range presentations, product boards, and campaign materials to communicate design intent clearly.
- Support range review meetings with professional, well-presented CAD assets and sample approvals.
