Position reports to: Head of Continuous Improvement & Control

Based at: 50% Paarden Eiland & 50% Atlantis, Cape Town

Industry: Import/export of frozen seafood

Contract type: Permanent, with a 6-month probation period

Working hours: 08:00–17:00 (hours may fluctuate due to project requirements)

Salary: Market related

Requirements

• Advanced SQL skills.

• Strong Power BI reporting and dashboard development skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• Advanced Copilot Studio skills.

• Curious, eager to learn and passionate about technology, automation and continuous improvement.

• Minimum 3 years' practical experience in a similar role.

• Experience in Power BI reporting, dashboard development and data modelling.

• Experience developing SQL queries, views, datasets or reporting tables.

• Exposure to automation, AI tools, Power Automate, Power Apps or Copilot is a must.

• Experience working with SAP, Innova, ERP systems or other operational data sources will be advantageous.

• Manufacturing, FMCG, seafood, supply chain or operational reporting experience will be beneficial.

• Experience in Power BI reporting, dashboard development and data modelling.

• Experience developing SQL queries, views, datasets or reporting tables.

• Experience working with SAP, Innova, ERP systems or other operational data sources will be advantageous.

Job Purpose

We are looking for a technically minded and highly analytical individual to join our Continuous Improvement & Control team.

The successful candidate will take ownership of maintaining and enhancing our Power BI reporting environment while helping drive the company's automation and AI initiatives.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving business problems through technology, data, automation and emerging technologies, rather than traditional software development alone.

Key Responsibilities

Business Intelligence & Reporting

• Maintain and enhance existing Power BI reports and dashboards.

• Develop new reports and visualisations to support business decision-making.

• Build and maintain Power BI data models, datasets and measures.

• Create meaningful KPI dashboards across multiple departments.

• Validate and reconcile reporting outputs against source systems.

• Improve reporting efficiency, usability and performance.

• Support users with Power BI-related queries and requirements.

Data Management & SQL Development

• Develop and maintain SQL queries, views and reporting tables.

• Extract, transform and validate data from multiple business systems.

• Build structured datasets that support reporting and analytics.

• Investigate and resolve data-quality issues.

• Document data structures, business rules and reporting logic.

• Support ongoing improvements to data governance and reporting controls.

SAP & Innova Data Integration

• Work with SAP and Innova data sources to support reporting and analysis.

• Develop reliable reporting structures from operational and transactional data.

• Assist in integrating information across multiple business systems.

• Support future system integration and automation initiatives.

Automation & AI Solutions

• Identify repetitive and manual processes suitable for automation.

• Develop workflow solutions using Microsoft Power Platform tools.

• Assist in building and maintaining Copilot Studio agents.

• Support digital transformation and paperless business initiatives.

• Evaluate new AI opportunities that can deliver measurable business value.

• Develop practical automation solutions that improve productivity and reduce manual effort.

Continuous Improvement

• Analyse business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.

• Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement projects.

• Develop process maps, SOPs and technical documentation.

• Support implementation of operational improvement initiatives.

• Track and report on benefits achieved through automation and reporting enhancements.
