Business Development Manager

Job Description

• An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth in the logistics sector, specialising in customs clearing, freight forwarding, and bonded warehousing.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and secure new business opportunities within customs clearing, freight forwarding and bonded warehousing.

• Leverage existing relationships with importers, exporters and freight forwarders to generate revenue.

• Develop and manage a strong sales pipeline to achieve business development targets.

• Prepare commercial proposals, negotiate contracts and close profitable deals.

• Build and grow key client relationships through retention, upselling and cross-selling.

• Engage with senior decision-makers and identify new market opportunities.

• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure successful client onboarding and service delivery.

• Maintain accurate CRM records and report on sales performance.

Minimum Requirements

• National Senior Certificate (Matric).

• 7–10 years' experience in business development, sales or key account management within logistics, freight or supply chain, including at least five years in customs clearing and freight forwarding.

• Proven track record of securing new business and consistently achieving revenue targets.

• An established network of importers, exporters and freight forwarders.

• An existing, transferable book of clearing and forwarding clients is essential.

• Strong knowledge of SARS customs procedures, tariff classification, customs valuation and bonded warehousing.

• Excellent commercial negotiation, strategic selling and relationship management skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or International Trade is advantageous.
